Adran y Gymraeg

The Welsh Department comprises Mr Morris, Mrs Nicholas, Miss Orells and Mrs Evans, and we share Mrs B. Gwyn-Jones with English and French. Between us, we teach all the pupils in school between Years 7 and 11.

Welsh is a living language, and so we aim to make our lessons as engaging as possible for learners of all levels, making use of AfL strategies and technology such as ActivInspire handsets and iPads. Although at KS3 there is a greater focus on oracy, we also aim to provide our pupils with reading and writing strategies that will equip them for their GSCEs and beyond, not only in Welsh, but across the curriculum.

We also run the school Eisteddfod which takes place in July, and is an opportunity for the whole school to enjoy a little Welsh culture and high quality performances from pupils of all ages.

Athrawon Adran y Gymraeg ydy Mr Morris, Mrs Nicholas a Mrs Evans, ac rydyn ni’n rhannu Mrs B. Gwyn-Jones gyda Saesneg a Ffrangeg. Rhyngddon ni, rydyn ni’n dysgu pob disgybl yn yr ysgol o Flwyddyn 7 i Flwyddyn 11.

Iaith fyw ydy’r Gymraeg, ac felly anelwn i wneud ein gwersi’n atyniadol i ddysgwyr o bob lefel, gan ddefnyddio strategaethau Asesu ar gyfer Dysgu a thechnoleg megis teclynau ActivInspire ac iPads. Er bod mwy o bwylais ar lafaredd yng Nghyfnod Allweddol 3, rydyn ni hefyd am ddarparu ein disgyblion â’r strategaethau darllen ac ysgrifennu a fydd o werth iddyn nhw yn eu TGAU a thu hwnt, nid yn unig yn y Gymraeg, ond ar draws y cwricwlwm.

Rydyn ni hefyd yn trefnu Eisteddfod yr Ysgol, sy’n digwydd ym mis Gorffennaf, a sy’n gyfle i’r ysgol gyfan mwynhau ychydig o ddiwylliant Cymreig a pherfformiadau o safon uchel o ddisgyblion o bob oed.
